Wednesday Words

Last night I was thinking about my focus and what I spend my energy on. I want to spend more energy on growth and less energy on things that don't matter.

"Complacency is a deadly foe of all spiritual growth. Acute desire must be present or there will be no manifestation of Christ to His people."
A.W. Tozer from The Pursuit of God

My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When can I go and meet with God?”
Psalms 42:2

I used to say that "good enough" is the enemy of "excellence". A "good enough" spiritual life (I believe) leads to a weak spiritual life. What's sad is that we never see it coming. We are doing good enough and before we realize it, we aren't growing at all. Thank you for the reminder that "acute desire" for Christ is necessary.

Both your words were very convicting for me in a wonderful way. My issue is that I keep saying when we are in the house I'll get back to my daily devotions, and bible study at church and praying more diligently but really right now is when I need to meet with Him. Thank you for that reminder.
