Sweet Sarah

Tomorrow my 4 year old niece, Sarah, is having her 9th surgery at John Hopkins Hospital.

The surgery starts at 12:30 p.m. Eastern time.

This surgery will be her biggest yet—she will be cut all the way open (across her tummy), with major recovery time. She's expected to stay in the hospital 7 days.

The surgery is to find and fix stomach/intestinal issues. The problem so far has been that the doctors (and these are some of the best in the world) have not been able to determine what is causing her intense pain. During the last surgery, they discovered bile in her stomach. They know there is something wrong. They just have not been able to pinpoint the cause of her problems.

I won't go into medical details here but she has been in pain all of her young life; she has also had problems with reflux and aspiration (requiring to have all liquids thickened).

Please, please cover this surgery in prayer.

Pray the doctors will discover what causing Sarah's pain (and bile reflux) and they will be able to fix it.

Pray that once Sarah has recovered from the surgery, she will have no more pain.

Pray for Sarah, my sister, Carrie, my brother-in-law, John, and my nephew, Matt.

Please feel free to pass on this prayer request.
Thank you. My family appreciates the prayers.

I would be ever so grateful if you would leave a note of encouragement for them here on my blog. Or, if you are more comfortable doing so, feel free to email me or msg me on FB so I can pass on notes of encouragement.

Praying for little Sarah and the rest of her/your family. These are verses that bring me comfort. I write them on index cards and carry them with me wherever I go. I pray they will also bring comfort to Carrie, John, Matt, and Sarah.

"We wait in hope for the Lord; he is our help and our shield. In him our hearts rejoice, for we trust in his holy name." (PS 33:20-21)

"The Lord is good, a refuge in times of trouble. He cares for those who trust in him." (Nahum 1:7)

"Cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous fall." (PS 55:22)

"Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful." (Heb 10:23)

"Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go." (Joshua 1:9)

"For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future." (Jeremiah 29:11)

"I sought the Lord and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears." (PS 34:4)

Big hugs,
Beth

What a beautiful little girl she is, and what a wonder that she can wear that huge smile. We will be praying God's blessings on those surgeons, for supernatural wisdom and tenderness and discernment. Thanking God for the way He brought my own little granddaughter, Maddie, through a very tough surgery just two years ago, removing 18 inches of small intestine (that's a lot for a 9-year-old!) - and now you'd never know there was anything every wrong with her. The scar keeps us all humble, and is a constant reminder of the angels/medical professionals He places in our lives at just the right time. We pray an equal miracle for your family. XOXOXO

I am so glad, that with all the issues little Sarah has had, that the best people in the world are caring for her and working on getting her health issues resolved. She is a beautiful girl and deserves to live pain free. You are all in my prayers!

Hoping that everything will be fixed during this surgery. It is so hard to see children in any kind of pain. Be strong Mom & Dad -- Sarah you are amazing!

Carrie and John,
We will all be lifting Sarah in prayer tomorrow. Mildred keeps us posted and I know she will tomorrow too. Praying that Sarah has no more pain after this.

I pray that every single doctor and nurse that comes in contact with Sarah have all the knowledge and wisdom they need to care for her. I pray for complete healing from the surgery itself, but most importantly for Sarah's health problems. I pray for pain management after the surgery and a quick recovery. And I pray for peace and comfort beyond understanding for Sarah's parents, siblings, and extended family. In Jesus' precious name I ask all of these things. Amen.
