Thursday ended up being an emotional day for me. We didn't celebrate my husband's birthday. We will do that this weekend.
I know I will blog about this. I just can't get my emotions in check enough to document my thoughts.
My son had an allergic reaction to the cake we were making to celebrate my husband's birthday. I let him and his brother eat some cake batter. My husband blogged about what happened. He said, "I despise this" - that pretty much sums up how I feel about food allergies.

Oh my goodness! I just read your husbands blog!
How scary!!!!!
How is your son doing now??
How are all of you????
On my way over to hubby's to read exacts. Hope he is ok. What a major bummer...
How awful. I know all too well the feeling when you are waiting, watching what will happen next.
I'm glad that he's okay.
Have read Seth's blog, posted to my blog with a link to his post. So sorry the birthday celebrations were interrupted. SO GLAD to know everything is ok. Will look forward to hearing things from your pespective as well - whenever you are ready.
(By the way, if you like carrot cake, I have a good scratch recipe - no nuts!)
I'm so sorry Jane Anne. It's just not fair for little kids to go through life like this... poor guy. Glad he is ok.
Oh man...that totally stinks. We have "PTL" never had a reaction since we found out about the kids allergies. we have been so blessed. Sorry to hear about the reaction. How scary and sad. What was it too? Off to read hubs.
Oh Jane Anne, I can only imagine how you must be feeling. This is an allergy parents worst nightmare. My prayers are with you and I am praising God that your little guy is alright.
Has he ever been tested for eggs? Just wondering, it wasn't until later we found out about Rooney's egg allergy. I thought a couple of times he had a cross contamination reaction and it ended up being eggs.
I can not wait to hear what the company said about all of this...
I am keeping you in my prayers.
Oh, Jane Anne! How terrifying for all of you. I hope David is feeling better and that he gets some safe cake this weekend.
that is so scary! I can't even imagine!
Wow! That is unbelievable that the cake mix wasn't marked! That is so scary. I'm glad he's OK.
Oh, Jane! I am so, so sorry! The whole allergy thing really stinks doesn't it. I hope he's feeling better now. And that you're emotions can calm down. I know I'd be a basket case for days. How are YOU doing?
JJ, I love you! You are in my prayers and I'm so sorry about this and so thankful that David is okay.
