On Father's Day night, I spent time looking through old photos. I did not find a photo of myself and my dad that I wanted to post. I didn't find a picture of a special moment. I have oodles and oodles of pictures. I barely scraped the surface of our photos. But, I had fun reminiscing, which is something my dad likes to do. I was also struck by the sheer number of aerial photos I found. My dad used to be a pilot. We used to take flights just to enjoy the experience and view. Thus, I found photos of aerial views of my home, my church, my downtown, and various landscapes that I found striking.
My dad taught me to soar. He gave me wings to fly. It is cliche but true. He taught me that success is not given, it is earned. He taught me that to soar, you have to have the know-how to take-off. When effort is not enough and you stall, you simply try again.
I am thankful for my dad.
I will never stop trying my hardest and giving my best effort. My goals change often but I am always striving towards an achievement. My dad taught me. He helped me acquire the skills I needed to meet goals. Then, he let me go with an understanding that he'd always be there to listen and, when desired, guide.
My thankfulness is abundant.
