Apples to Apples

We played Apples to Apples on Christmas. I know it has been out a few years but it was a first for me. Here's how it goes-- Apples to Apples consists only of two decks of cards: Things and Descriptions. Each turn, the current judge selects a description and players try to pick, from the cards in their hands, the things that best match that description. The judge then chooses the “best” thing and awards the card to the player who played it. Once a player has won a pre-determined number of cards, that player wins. This isn't a battle of wits like Trivial Pursuit, or a battle of drawing skills like Pictionary. This is pick the most appropriate word OR make the judge laugh (usually), and win all the points."

We had so much fun with this game. I love playing light-hearted fun games. What are some of your favorite games to play?

the dumb trivial pursuit games you hate. ;[
actually, i love playing scategories - where you have a list of 12 different things and then you role a 24 sided die (is that how you spell a single dice?) with letters on it. the letter that is rolled has to be the first letter of each word of your answers for the list.
electronic catch phrase - where you have to get your team to quess the word w/o saying any part of it. they just came out with a music edition and you get extra points if you actually sing the song. Yes, i got it for Janeen for Christmas and we did play it - twice!!! it's SO MUCH FUN!
loaded question - its been packed away for SO long that i forget the exact rules and how its played but the jest of it is you ask questions and then everyone answers and you have to quess who answered what. it's very much a get to know you game and I'm all about "getting to know you"!
cranium games - hoopla and whoonu being my favorite. I'm being to really appreciate the games that our kids can play with us that aren't "kiddie" games.

I like the trivia, but not the trivia games. I hate (I know, a strong word) finding out someone else is smarter than I am. Ik want to win too much to rely on my own intelligence. I would rather play games like Apples to Apples or Sequence where there is enough element of chance so that I can blame chance if I lose. As long as it isn't my fault.

I LOVE Apples to Apples, it's a very fun game!! We love some of those "kid-friendly" ones like Chicken Foot, Uno, Sequence....I'm sure there are others as our toy closet rivals ToysRUs!! :)

Thanks for the review on the Apples to Apples game! We'll have to get that one. We just purchased Uno Attacks so that should be interesting! I also hate trivia games! I love Scrabble though and could play for hours and hours! That's not really a kid or party game though just a favorite.
